UWT Sensor RFnivo® 8200 withstands sulfuric acid
and tropical climate
A chemical trading company operating a port storage facility in the Dominican Republic was looking for a safe and reliable solution to monitor the filling level in tank trucks carrying sulfuric acid.
The goal: to automate the loading process, eliminate manual checks, and protect personnel from direct contact with the aggressive liquid.
The application presented several challenges. In addition to the high chemical stress caused by the strongly corrosive medium, the equipment had to cope with tropical temperatures around 30 °C (86 °F) and a constant humidity of around 80 % throughout the year. The technology used therefore needed to be chemically resistant, climate-proof, and maintenance-free.


Solution: Capacitive Level Limit Switch RFnivo® 8200
To meet these demanding conditions, the company chose the capacitive level limit switch from UWT. The robust rod version with a 250 mm (9.8 in) probe made of stainless steel 1.4404 (316 L) and a durable PFA coating provides maximum protection against sulfuric acid and other corrosive liquids.
Thanks to its active build-up compensation, the sensor delivers accurate measurements even with adhesive or viscous media. Mounted on top of the tank trucks, it ensures safe, clean, and maintenance-free level detection from the outside.
