The Challenge

An oilseed oil extraction plant was looking for a high and low level measurement within a 150 mm stainless steel pipe tube of the solvent and soybean oil separation system. For these control points, intrinsic safe was required, with ATEX gas zone certification. At high levels, soybean oil is viscous and very sticky.

Our Solution

In this case, our ideal solution was the capacitive level switch, Capanivo CN 7000. It features a short PPS probe equipped with technology that withstands material build-up (active shield) and the capability to measure even when the probe has sticky substances. This probe operates under intrinsic safety standards and complies with gas zone regulations. Utilizing tip-sensitive technology, this instrument can measure products with dielectric constants as low as 1.5 DK.
