Empty detection with RN6004 in fly ash

The Challenge

A manufacturer of wood gasifier systems had the application of an empty detection in a reactor vessel. The sensor should reliably detect ash. The process temperature range is up to 250°C. The application is sticky and very dusty. The sensor should therefore be robust, insensitive but sensitive enough to guarantee a reliable empty detection of the reactor.

Our Solution

A rotary sensor with a graphite shaft seal is used, which can withstand temperatures up to 350°C. The extension of the sensor is made of stainless steel. The sensitivity is 100 g/l. An advantage of the rotary paddle detector is that it functions reliably despite caking.
