NR 4100 in Kippförderer für Halden

The Challenge

A large Brazilian company that manufactures MDF wood boards needed a reliable solution to measure the piles of shredded wood on the conveyor belt of the tripper. This system moves as the piles of material reach the desired level of 15 meters. The company had already tried unsuccessfully to install lasers, which lost their signal due to dust, as well as radars, which lost their measurement signal when moving.

Our Solution

Our perfect solution for this case was the NivoRadar series 4100 range of radar level transmitters. This line of non-contact sensors with PVDF wetted parts, supports temperatures up to 80ºC together with a high accuracy of +-2mm, 4º beam angle and a response time until 3s, due to its high frequency of 80 GHz. It works in extreme measurement conditions and outdoor environments as it has IP68 rating. Through the UWTLevel App the solution can be configured easily and with very fast updates due to its incredible update time, it solved this application perfectly.
