Jam detection systems of iron ore pellets.

The Challenge

The production of iron ore pellets is a process of concentrating and agglomerating fine iron ore particles for use in blast furnaces or direct reduction plants and includes: crushing and grinding, concentration, mixing and moistening, balling (pelletizing), drying and firing, cooling and screening. The material is transported between workshops using conveyors. The length of these conveyors throughout the entire production facility is several kilometres. In this regard, all conveyors require jam detection systems.

Our Solution

The optimal solution to this problem was our paddle switch Rotonivo RN 3004. Even very heavy material can be detected with the device’s double-sided hinged vane. Furthermore, due to the fact that the vane opens and closes all by itself during installation, no large process connection had to be used.
