Paper manufacturing - Limit detection in a storage tank (methanol).

The Challenge

A multinational manufacturer from Chile, operating in the pulp and paper industry, sought limit switches for its 5-meter tanks containing methanol from the liquor separation process. For this application, the level switches were required to have a measuring length of 350 mm and to be ATEX-compliant for Zone 0/1 (Ex d) in order to reliably monitor the high and low levels of the tanks.

Our Solution

Our solution for this application was the capacitive level switch Capanivo CN 8100. This level switch can withstand process temperatures up to 85 °C, features wetted parts made of FKM, PPS, and SS 316L, and incorporates active shield technology. Thanks to its robust construction with Ex d housing, it meets all requirements, supporting high pressures up to 35 bar, ATEX certification, and inverse frequency technology.
