Processing and production of fish - Level measurement in a storage tank (diesel)

The Challenge

A leading company in the fishing industry from Chile, focuses on the production of seafood. They required a continuous measurement of diesel for custody transfer operations that supply their steam boilers and fishing boats. It was a steel tank, 6 meters high. Due to the process, precision was very important in this case. In total there were two tanks, each supposed to have an independent display system for the external environment.

Our Solution

Our perfect solution for this case was the non-contact radar NivoRadar NR 7200. These sensors with PVDF wetted parts support temperatures up to 80ºC together with a high accuracy of +-2mm, due to its high frequency of 80 GHz. It works in extreme measurement conditions and outdoor environments as it has IP68 rating. Through the UWT LevelApp the sensor can be configured easily. The possibility of the scale function in liters allowed better monitoring of levels. Operators can make false echo suppression for internal metal parts. Our NivoTec 9000 monitoring system was also installed, featuring individual level visualization connected directly to the radar via 2-wire technology.
