Contents measurement in sawdust

The Challenge

Our customer is a producer of MDF plates. They requested reliable level control in wood snippets and saw dust for a number of silos in their factory. Particularly, they expected reliability and an easy set-up and parameter setting of the level control system. Former measurement systems of other producers have not been working due to the difficult material attributes, like low dielectric constant, dusty environment, sticky conditions, high angle of repose and so on.

Our Solution

The UWT system NivoBob NB 3200 was the solution in this application. It offers an electromechanical level measurement, which reliably works independently of the dielectricity, dust development, adhering product or even steep angle of repose. It has an integrated tape cleaner and protects the housing from contamination during the measurement. The NB 3200 provides over 500,000 measurement cycles of maintenance-free and reliable measurement technology in this application. Interfaces such as Modbus RTU, Profibus PA or 4-20mA make it compatible with most process control systems.
