Level measurement in storage tank for bioethanol
The Challenge
Bioethanol is produced from plant-based raw materials, such as corn, and is used as a fuel, solvent, or chemical feedstock. A major bioethanol producer was looking for a reliable level measurement solution for three storage tanks containing bioethanol. The sensors had to be certified for operation in hazardous areas (Zone 0).
Our Solution
In this application, the non-contact radar sensor NivoRadar NR 3100 was installed. The sensor is certified for use in hazardous areas and, with its PPS antenna, offers excellent chemical resistance, making it ideal for measuring bioethanol. Thanks to the large antenna (DN 80), condensate droplets do not affect the reliability of the measurement.
