"My Time on Malta"

Trainee Robin tells about the UWT exchange program

"On 17.07.2023 my trip to Malta began. After a two-hour flight, I was picked up at the airport by my Maltese colleagues Jesmond and Therese and taken to the hotel. Afterwards, we had dinner at a restaurant on the beach.

The next morning, the internship started at Adpro-Instruments Ltd, a member of the UWT group. I took the bus to Paola and was picked up at the bus stop and taken to the factory. Then it was off to work and I completed tasks that were assigned to me for the day. This was repeated the following days, so that in the end I had gone through all the departments (production, personnel, accounting and purchasing) and all the associated work areas once. After work, every day was free time! Since it was very hot and summery (40 °C), we often all went to the many different beaches together. Peter's Pool and the Redsandbeach were a must. I also visited the National Stadium of Malta and the annual MTV festival, where OneRepuplic, among others, performed. Some city tours, such as in Valetta, where you should not miss the fantastic view from a platform above the harbor, followed by a visit to a bar and restaurant, were also part of the program. Here, especially the fish dishes, such as shrimp, are highly recommended.

At the weekend, I took the ferry to Gozo with several colleagues. There we visited the citadel, a small self-contained fortress, and had a beautiful view over the island. Afterwards, we took a tour of the beach and saw a lot of the island.

After twelve days of program with work and free time we went back to Germany. In conclusion, it was very worthwhile and definitely an experience. English skills are used every day and thus also improved. In addition, one learns a high degree of independence, which proves to be very helpful in professional life."
