Cement production - Level measurement technology for raw material storage tanks (limestone).

The Challenge

One of the world's leading cement producers needed a reliable, contactless solution for measuring limestone of three silos at its Ecuador plant, a process that precedes the kiln. The silo was 22 meters high and had temperatures close to 45°C. The feeding system of abrasive stones was done by gravity and generated a lot of dust, which caused measurement errors in various technologies.

Our Solution

Our ideal solution for this case was our non-contact radar NivoRadar NR 3300. The 80 GHz electromagnetic wave technology ensures measurements even in very dusty environments . Our air purge system is available for extreme cases. Also, with a 3° beam angle resulting in precise measurements with an accuracy of ±1mm. The user-friendly 2-wire technology with HART communication facilitates installation. Bluetooth connectivity is also available for device parameterization.
