Empty detection in a process hopper with animal feed pellets

The Challenge

A producer of animal feed pellets in russia has the challenge to detect the pellets in a process hopper after the pellet press and before packaging. The sensor will be mounted in the cone part of the hopper. It should be a low cost sensor, but reliable and stable in this dusty application.

Our Solution

The application was solved with the very cost effective simple rotation paddle switch RN 4001. It works unsensitive to dust and caking. The mechanical load to the sensor is not so strong in this process hopper. Simply working in animal feed pellets.
