Woodchip conveyor blockage sensor

The Challenge

Pitlochry dam hydropower station installed a wood chip system to dispose of debry fouling the dam. The wood chips were conveyed to a storage bay via a number of chain conveyors which were not monitored. An indicator was required in the transfer chutes to sense any blockage of the chips.

Our Solution

An MN 4020 was installed in the transfer chute, which reliably detects the wood chips. This single-rod probe made of stainless steel is the solution for use in wood chips, since it has an adjustable sensitivity and no product sticks to the probe arm and can lead to incorrect switching.
